The following are the requirements for the A.B. degree in Chemistry. To examine proposed course sequencing, and view a degree progress worksheet, refer to the Undergraduate Handbook.

  • PHYSICS 121L & PHYSICS 122L or PHYSICS 151L & PHYSICS 152L or PHYSICS 161L & PHYSICS 162L 

Major Requirements

  • CHEM 201DL & CHEM 202D & CHEM 202L
  • CHEM 210D & CHEM 210L or CHEM 020 or CHEM 021
  • CHEM 301 & CHEM 301L or CHEM 310 & CHEM 310L & CHEM 311
  • CHEM 401 & CHEM 401L
  • plus one of the following three options:
    • Option 1. Three of the following: CHEM 302, CHEM 410; BIOCHEM 301, BIOCHEM 302, any CHEM courses at or above the 500 level, CHEM 393, CHEM 394
    • Option 2. One of the following emphases:
      • Physics Emphasis
        • CHEM 302 or CHEM 311 plus any 2 of the following:
        • PHYSICS 264L Optics and Modern Physics
        • PHYSICS 361 Intermediate Mechanics
        • PHYSICS 362 Electricity and Magnetism
      • Mathematics Emphasis
        • CHEM 302 or CHEM 311 plus either of the following pairs of courses:
        • [MATH 221 and MATH 356] or [MATH 216 and MATH 353].

        • BIOLOGY 223 Cellular and Molecular Neurobiology
        • BIOLOGY 329D Principles of Animal Physiology or BIOLOGY 329L
        • BIOLOGY 515 Principles of Immunology
        • BIOLOGY 520S Membraneless organelles in cellular processes and neurodegeneration
