High School Science Teacher Outreach Program
June 7-9, 2005
Overview:

The program is designed to be a research oriented, training session for high school science teachers in the Durham Public Schools.   Program participants will attend a series of seminars on a variety of contemporary research areas in the chemical and life sciences.   Participants will also have the opportunity to meet informally with individual Duke Faculty members to learn about specific ongoing research projects in the Duke University research community.

The primary goal of the program is to cultivate relationships between Durham Public School high school science teachers and individual researchers in the Duke University research community.   These relationships are expected to provide science teachers with intellectual and material resources that they can use to enhance their lesson plans and to increase the participation of their students in the Regional High School Science Fair.
