About the authors
TO THE TEACHER
Describe the concepts that are covered in this unit.
Outline the learning objectives. Make suggestions as to how the module can
be included in the course curriculum. For example -- This unit covers the
following concepts: reaction stoichiometry, kinetics, first law of
thermodynamics, etc.
CATCHY INTRODUCTION
To motivate the student's interest and curiosity about the
issues involved.
MAIN TEXT OF MODULE
May include background and history. Covers the main scientific concepts
and applications. This section will include:
POLITICS AND CHEMISTRY
In this section we review the major legislation that is pending and that
which has been passed that impacts the topics presented.
SELF TEST and REVIEW
This component is included to provide a means of evaluating whether the
student comprehends the material in the module. We include questions on
interpreting graphs and designing experiments in order to allow the students
opportunities to develop critical thinking skills.
ACTIVITIES
This section will include both laboratory activities and other learning
activities so that teachers will be able to customize the module to their
individual classroom. Activities will also include asking the students to
search for new, applicable internet sites.
EXPLORING CAREERS IN CHEMISTRY
This section will describe career opportunities in areas of chemistry that
relate to the material in the modules. We will include educational
requirements for these positions.
FEEDBACK
An e-mail address for the module is given so that we can obtain feedback,
which may include new material and new ideas for the expansion of the site.
