The Chair, DGS & DUS

The Chair's office is the principle contact between the Department and the university's administration. This office handles faculty recruitment and retention, departmental budgets and committees, allocation of office and research space, and approves graduate student affiliation within research groups.

The Director of Graduate Studies (DGS) is the primary link between the Department and the graduate students and Graduate School. The DGS office oversees graduate program admission, recruitment, administration and monitors students' compliance with university requirements.

The Director of Undergraduate Studies (DUS) is the primary link between the Department and undergraduate students. The DUS office supervises teaching assignments in consultation with the Chair's office, manages undergraduate course listings and schedules, approves study-abroad and transfer credits for undergraduates, and supervises the advising in the major.
