Nanoparticles: Scaffolds for Biomolecular Recognition and Delivery
Abstract:
Monolayer-Protected Clusters (MPCs) and Mixed Monolayer-Protected Clusters (MMPCs) provide versatile scaffolds for molecular recognition. The mobile yet preorganized thiol monolayer covering these particles can be templated, providing efficient multivalent recognition of targets. Moreover, their size makes the ideal for recognition of biomacromolecular surfaces. Our use of these MMPC systems for the recognition of small molecules, nucleic acids, and proteins will be discussed. (Co-sponsored by CBIMMS and Chemistry)
