New Methods for Hydrofunctionalization of Unsaturated Compounds
- Abstract:
Hydrofunctionalization reactions are some of the most desirable transformations of unsaturated compounds, and their development has been a major focus of research within the field of transition metal catalysis. Despite significant progress achieved over the years, control of regio- and stereoselectivity in hydrofunctionalization reactions remains a significant challenge. Recently, we have formulated general strategies for selective anti-Markovnikov hydrofunctionalization of alkenes and alkynes. Successful implementation of these strategies allowed us to develop new methods for anti-Markovnikov hydroamination of alkenes and semireduction of alkynes. In a related effort, we have explored stereospecific hydrofunctionalization of allenes as a general approach to asymmetric synthesis of hetero- and carbocyclic molecules containing quaternary stereocenters.
