Synthetic Studies toward NF00659 B1, a diterpene a-pyrone with potent anticancer activity
- Abstract:
Since bioactive terpenoids produced by microbes have limitless potential in pharmaceutical applications, considerable effort has been devoted to the synthesis of terpenoids and the identification of their structure-activity relationships. Herein, we offer a plan for the first stereoselective synthesis of the 4,5-seco-tricyclic diterpene a-pyrone NF00659s, and report methods and results achieved to date. Using efficient synthetic methods, it will be possible to determine the absolute and relative stereochemistries of these compounds. In addition, these synthetic strategies will contribute to a more thorough elucidation of their bioactivities. Due to their bioactivities, NF00659s are expected to be promising new anticancer drugs.
