The Total Syntheses of Subglutinols A and B: Assignment of Absolute Stereochemistry
- Abstract:
Currently approved immunosuppressant pharmaceuticals possess some undesired cytotoxic effects. Recent reports concerning two new immunosuppressive compounds have noted the absence of cytotoxicity. These compounds are the subglutinols A and B, isolated from the endophytic fungus Fusarium subglutinans. Efforts toward the determination of absolute stereochemical configurations and stereoselective total syntheses of subglutinols A and B via a common intermediate involving a novel stereoselective BF3•OEt2 mediated reductive deoxygenation and a stereoselective intramolecular SN2′ tetrahydrofuran ring closure are herein reported.
