Synthesis of (α-P-borano)-nucleoside 5’-triphosphate analogues as potential antiviral agents against Hepatitis C Virus
- Abstract:
Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) affects 170 million people globally, and the current treatments for HCV only work in 50% of those treated1. The α-P-borano modification of nucleoside triphosphates, where one of the α-phosphate oxygens is replaced by borane, has recently shown promising results in the field of anti-viral research2. Here I repeat the routine synthesis of α-P-borano adenosine triphosphate 10a, and the first time synthesis of α-P-borano-2’-O-methyl ATP 10b, which was achieved via silane protection of nucleoside and a one-pot synthesis under mild conditions. These will be used in future structure/activity relationship studies involving the HCV RNA dependant RNA polymerase.
