2013 Akron Section Award Prof. Stephen Craig was awarded the 2013 Akron Section Award of the American Chemical Society. This Award recognizes younger scientists who show particularly great accomplishment and promise in their professional careers. Prof. Craig will receive the award this fall when he delivers the award seminar in Ohio.
Symposium on September 7 Duke Chemistry will host, on Saturday September 7 in 2231 French Family Science Center, a symposium entitled: "Frontiers of Theoretical Chemistry - the Parr Celebration," honoring our neighbor from Chapel Hill, Professor Robert Parr. Flexible Touch Screens A collaboration between Benjamin Wiley's lab at Duke and Karen Winey's lab at Penn resulted in a new computer model that will help design flexible touch screens.
Chemistry Major Tim Kreulen receives 2013 Award for Inorganic Chemistry! Chemistry Major Tim Kreulen (T'14) received a 2013 Award for Inorganic Chemistry from the American Chemical Society for his independent research conducted under the guidance of Professor Alvin Crumbliss.
Science Under the Stars This year's 9th annual Science under the Stars is scheduled for Tuesday September 24, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The event will be held on the ground floor hallway (undergrad lab area) of the French Family Science Center and on the lawn between French and the Greenhouses.
From 6 to 7:30 PM, there will be hands-on interactive stations that the guests can partake followed by a demonstration show staged outside by the Duke Chemistry Outreach team, weather permitting. If weather does not permit, the stations will run to 8:00 PM.
