Financial Aid
The Department of Chemistry recognizes the need for adequate financial support during the period of graduate study and offers aid in the following forms:
- University Fellowships
including James B. Duke Fellowships, University Scholars Fellowships, and Duke Endowment Fellowships. - Department Awards
for students who demonstrate excellence in teaching and research.

in which students receive a take-home stipend, and tuition and fees are paid directly to the Graduate School by the Department of Chemistry.

for students beyond their first year, from funds available to research directors.

sponsored by the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, Duke University and other agencies. Students are required to work on a relevant research project with a participating faculty member, and must satisfy curricular requirements of both the program and the Department of Chemistry.
